Not so much for Los Angeles proper. By the time, the 60s and 70s rolled along, space was running out in the city of Los Angeles, and they typically started building more apartment buildings.

Yeah the 60s and 70s saw a lot of those dingbat apartments being built (often on old ranch home lots).
