What would be your limit if you were to rent a 2 bedroom apartment?
Meaning; what's the max amount of money a month you'd be willing to pay?

Just curious to see peoples views on renting around the country

For example, people in Manhattan might say 2500 while people in Syracuse might say 900.

Right now i would feel comfortable at 1500, but in Saint Louis there is no reason to spend that much when you can get a really nice 2 bedroom from 800-1000 in a great part of town.

In a very good area of South Florida (i.e., South Beach) I'd say around $2,000.

Intown Atlanta: probably $1500.00 for a nice 2 BR.

New Orleans: $1200 is the cheapest you'll find in a "property" or complex for a decent 2br apt. You may find a decent Double or Shotgun from maybe $800-$900, but that is stretching it. I'd be willing to shell $1600-$1700 on a nice 2br apt, because that's the cheapest you'll find anything better than decent.

Last time I rented was about 10 yrs ago - paid $1725/mo for a small (500-600 sq ft?) 2 bedroom in NJ. 10 yrs later, that's still about the max I'd go.

Idaho: $750-800 (which in most areas would buy a very nice 2-BR apartment, most likely with w/d and covered/or garage parking.)

West Michigan, I wouldn't go above $550 and then it better be close to the beach for that. For a 2 bedroom house I would bump it up to $700.
