Do you think your adult personality traits have a lot to do with the city/area you grew up in, or that you sort of grew to match the character of your hometown?

For myself, I think growing up in Washington DC was a major part of how I got to be so cynical.

As a guy who moved around back and fourth when I was younger, I would say so. I was born in Brooklyn, lived there until 2nd grade, moved to Philly until 6thgrade, moved back to BK until high school than finished high school in Philly. I personally think high school days determine your personality most. I am a tough, not scared to speak my mind when asked, I cuss a lot (not infront of kids), I love sports, and I love my cities. Both of them are on my back an when someone disrespects it on this forum, I get pissed and sometimes mods remove my posts for speaking my mind. So yes, I think my personality comes from my cities, at least 70% of it.

I think people you hang with will play more role than the city because cities are way too big it gets so many people you have many cultures .I think town or country has culture but cities have so many cultures .

I think if you where born in town or country you will have that area cultures but in city that not the case unless you where born in ghetto and lived in ghetto you may have ghetto culture .

I grew up in a stuck up suburb in SoCal and my fiancee is always telling me that I have an elitist and entitled attitude. Perhaps there's some validity to this idea!

I think so...I'm a mix: Childhood in Chicago, teen & college years in Louisville/Lexington. So a mix of ethnic wise guy + southern bohemian/literary type. Preppy meets blue collar. Yet open minded, cosmpolitan, enthusiastic in a way. Can appreciate irony but can also be earnest. Yet also "can-do".

Coming here to Dayton I am SOOOO GLADDD that I did not grow up here considering the fatal mix of conformity, consevatism, squelching, and passive-aggresivisness that compromises the Dayton character.

It did for me without question. I grew up in rural Appalachia in Southwestern Virginia...I'm educated and all that jazz but I'm still a pretty big hillbilly. Most everyone where I live now gives me the, "You aren't from around here, are you?" when I start talking.

I'm very relaxed but I'm a hard worker with a very VERY dry sense of humor...Thats a pretty common demeanor back home.

Sure. I grew up in a very conservative, small farm town in NW Ohio where almost every family had some church affiliation. I am still very conservative and my faith is very important to me, except that now I live in a very conservative, small farm town in Michigan...

My growing up in the Philadelphia area did most definitely shape my persona.
I went from Midwestern attitude Pittsburgh to NE attitude Philly in my Jr High years.
It was Leave it to Beaver to Blackboard Jungle. Severe culture shock.
