I don't take those bizjournals population rankings seriously. Fun to look at though.
Exactly. It's like reading a Forbes list or some other list of best and worsts. You just have to take them with a grain of salt. Too much on this forum we look at lists and freak out and wonder why this city is there and that city isn't on it. Good or bad, who cares... it's a list.
On that note, it was interesting to see the projections.
I don't think they're all that far off base, really.
The thing is that they give a prediction that Houston metro will reach 6.2 million exactly on February 6. Not around that date. But exactly that day. Right now, they have Houston at 6.191 million. Don't know how they get the point that a metro area will be at a certain number on an exact day.

Well of course I don't buy their exact date prognostication, but their round figures don't seem too egregiously inaccurate.
With these estimates, I think PA and IL will have over 13 million people in 2020, NY and FL with switch places with population rank, and I see NC taking over 9th in the country from Michigan.

I heard the methodology was based on HISTORICAL rates of growth, which is a serious flaw, obviously, for future and current trends in real estate and moving. So PLEASE take this list with a gigiantic grain of salt, onlookers, and don't get too excited or pompus if your city supposedly beat all odds and continued to boom despite all the naysayers suggestions....
