Deep south states with four seasons meaning snowy winters? No, not really. Closest to that would be higher elevations in some of the mountainous areas in the northern portions of some of those states. Even here in northeastern TN we get what I like to refer to as "winter light" - fairly cold temps throughout a good portion of winter and a up to a few inches of snow less than a dozen times in a season.
My husband spent time in lower Mississippi and bought an overcoat to wear on the flight line. He said there is nothing colder than the damp air coming off the Gulf. Texas has cold weather too but not as long as the Northeast.
I used to say that we have about a month of winter here in North Carolina, but this year it started in November and we have 70 temperature days in there but we have really had cold weather this year. Most of our state has four seasons but summer is the longest season. In the mountains the leaves turn in October and are a few weeks later in the Piedmont and are usually totally gone by Thanksgiving. March winds are usually in February, April showers come in March and May flowers come in April. The air conditioner is usually on by May but really hot comes in late July and lasts through Labor Day. We call it "Dog days."
We hit 70 two days ago and 67 today but we also have colder days in there too. If you don't like the weather here just stick around and it will change. I like having a variety. From mid-January until Valentine's Day is usually our coldest time. We usually avoid the higher elevations between mid-October until May. October and May are two good months to visit our mountains. You are less likely to run into fog and rain those two months.

The Northern halves of AL, GA, Upstate SC, Western NC, and most of VA/TN/AR have 4 distinct seasons. Pretty much the entire Southern Piedmont...the leaves change and fall off, then the trees are bare with below-freezing temps, then the leaves come back in the spring along with other seasonal flowers/plants, and the summers are warm to hot - four distinct seasons.
