I don't think anyone in their right mind would actually go as far as to actually hate a city. Therefore, this thread is nonsense, and is null and void.

This was my initial thought, then I thought about a lot of the posters on City-Data, and I'm not so sure. I mean, some are the same people who humanize cities by saying things like, "Chicago just hates NYC because NYC is #1." Really? The age of posters here skews young and it impacts the discourse.

This forum is filled with a lot people who prefer liberal, urban, walkable cities. With that being said, that is why I picked Dallas, Houston, Detroit, Phoenix, and Atlanta: all five are known as being extremely sprawled out suburbia and with the exception of Detroit, conservative (at least compared to a few on this list that's for sure).

Phoenix is going to get a lot of hate soon for the "Freedom Bill" and a lot of other BS our legislators have tried passing recently. At this time, because of the "Freedom Bill", Phoenix will probably be #1 for a bit.
I don't think I could have said it better. I would add Phily as well. Phily gets crap because it's Not NYC or Boston.

I'm confused as to how Dallas and Houston have less votes than Seattle. Or how Seattle has any votes at all. Seriously, every time someone asks about moving to another city, the first place mentioned is Seattle.

Hate is such a horrible word. Some of you morons who hate other cities in the USA is just ludicrous. You would think it if you lived in a country that did not respect their citizens, this country is not perfect by any means, but to HATE fellow cities is just beyond me. You might not care for them, but to HATE is just sad. I am sure half the people on here have never even been to some of these cities in question. Usually hate is out of jealousy too, so remember that when you vote.

"Hated" is too strong a word, so I'm replacing it with "Generally disliked" or "Negatively viewed for little to no reason"

You are asking the wrong question,no city should be hated for any reason but you mean considered as a dangerous place.
Atlanta is not a hated city, some people may not enjoy the city but it is a beautiful, green with a vibrant economy.

Why are you putting Long Beach and Malibu together? Long Beach has some very ghetto areas. Just doesn't make sense.

Alot of people hate L.A. because they think it's the same L.A. from the post Streetcar demolition pre-metro/downtown revitalization.
