What would be the most extreme in-your-face liberal elitist city in the U.S.? I'm not talking about which cities have the most Democratic representation in Congress or received the most Democratic votes. I'm talking about a city that just gives off a seriously liberal vibe from simply driving or walking through it, and is a stronghold for liberal elitists. I have some guesses:

Cambridge, MA
Boston, MA
Washington, DC
Burlington, VT
San Francisco, CA
Austin, TX
New York, NY
Denver, CO
Portland, OR
Asheville, NC
Detroit, MI
New Haven, CT
Northampton, MA

The notion that liberals are elitist is nothing but politically based trolling. In the Reagan era America that I grew up in, the arrogant chest thumpers were mostly on the right.

San Francisco by far. The city is so extremely liberal that even liberals find it uncomfortable.

Detroit doesn't belong on that list. It votes Democratic, but a very strong traditional African-American church presence gives the city a strong social conservative streak that you won't find in the other cities on your list.

This! I don't think you will find any cities with really large African American populations come off as in your face liberal. African Americans are one of the most socially conservative ethnic groups in America, despite what the media portrays. A lot of academic research has also concluded that African Americans are the most religious group in America too, something that most bleeding heart liberals are not found of.

Denver doesn't belong on that list, either. Boulder, maybe, but Denver never felt in-your-face the way Portland, Oregon did. You could maybe throw Portland Maine on there, too.

Austin is pretty darn Liberal.

I think when Jimmy Kimmell did his show there last week for SXSW it surprised a lot of people outside Texas how tolerant, open, & "weird" the city is.
