I got this idea from another thread. Pick one and state why you picked it.
I choose Times Square. A member claims that "Times Square is a poor man's Vegas Strip." Of course it's not. Times Square and Broadway were here first, so I think it's fair to say that The Strip's a wannabe Times Square wishing it had the attention and publicity Times Square and Broadway receive around the world? True or no? And before I get an infraction for the italicized text, it is not my intention to stir controversy. This is a serious question.
My choice would have to be Las Vegas. I was born and raised there and I must say I can't ever imaging growing up any where else. I had the privilege in meeting every movie star that was popular during my younger days. Yes even Elvis. I know lot's of you will say, big deal, but it was to me. Not to many of us can say they got to do that growing up.
So, in my opinion, Vegas is NOT a wanna be Times Square at all. It has ton's of good things about it and always will have.
The fire works are spectular and can be seen all over the valley.
Did you know there are over 250 public schools in the Vegas valley? Yes people really do work & live there.
So what if Times Square and Broadway were here first, does that make them better? I think not.
Now remember, we're not talkin' about the sidewalks, we're talking about the infrastructure and the establishments along the way. An intersection compared to 3 or 4 miles. Keep it sane
Times Square for sure. It's organic... has grown and changed with NYC for the last century, and in addition to tourists, there are new yorkers working, eating, traveling in and through the area. Times Square/Broadway has many different facets, the strip is one dimensional.
Nothing Disney-like in Times Square other than a few shows, my friend. Sports bars and clubs are still on the side streets towards Hell's Kitchen. And there's also ESPN Zone and MTV STUDIOS! And you strike me as an 'Insider NYC' closet fan.
There's one project under construction now on The Strip which in itself, is about half the size of TS. Please, let us for the sake of humanity, and any children viewing this thread..let's have our common sense fully apparent
