Name a festival which only occurs in your city and no place else! Jazz festivals and art festivals occur everywhere. I'm interested in very unique festivals you won't experience elsewhere.

Detroit: Nain Rouge, Woodward Dream Cruise; and International Freedom Festival between Canada and USA.

These events and festivals are copied across the country after they become a thing. An example of one starting in Raleigh is the Krispy Kreme Challenge at NC State. Now there are several university donut runs across the country.

Miami Beach has dozens of events each year but they may or may not be considered unique. If I had to pick the one that is most unique, I'd say ArtBasel Miami Beach.

Bastille Day: the French equivalent of our 4th of July, is celebrated in this “Most French of American Cities.” A series of events commemorating the French Independence Day takes place the weekend of July 11-14 in downtown New Orleans, in and around the French Quarter.

Yep...so it becomes increasingly difficult to find truly unique festivals that can only be seen in one city. Also, most festivals are, in some way, centric to food and music.

It's not my city, but the nearby city of Brevard, NC has the White Squirrel Festival. Which really isn't much different from a regular festival, but it includes the theme of the white squirrel that we have around here.

When I first moved here I made a trip specifically to see one and later found out they come in my yard.

Philadelphia has a bunch. Two festivals I think worth noting are the Mummers and the Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby
