Wyoming and Washington are my favorites! But i went with Wyoming because of the Tetons! they're truley spectacular! seeing them from Idaho (which not many people get to see because the national park doesn't go into Idaho) was incredible with the BRIGHT green potato fields in front was flat out stunning!
Beautiful mountain ranges in a number of states. Sierra Nevadas in California, some ranges in some islands of Hawaii, the mountains of the Colorado divide. I chose the range that has Mt. McKinley in it. The Most Spectacular
I've never been to Alaska, but from the pictures I've seen it would be hard to argue with Alaska being the most spectacular (and that's the state I voted for). Among the lower 48 states (all of which I HAVE been to), I would have to vote for California, specifically the backcountry of Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Park and the John Muir Trail to Yosemite. Incredible.
Idaho is one of the most mountainess states and has over 80 mountain ranges, some so remote they don't have names and some ranges have rarely seen humans because of their remoteness. I would have to go with Idaho, some of the most beautiful mountains and wilderness anywhere in America.
Naturally, I choose Colorado (yes, I am biased!! ). There are many beautiful mountain ranges in this country - it's so difficult to choose.
I've attached a photo I took of Longs Peak (left-center) in 2004 just before Trail Ridge Road closed for the winter season. For those who know nothing about it, the summit of Longs Peak is 14,259' above sea level and is located in Rocky Mountain National Park. It makes up part of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.
To truly see the beauty of the Mountains, you need a four wheel drive vehicle to take you where very few people have/can venture.
