I've learned of the Gospel of Density and that I live in nothing but a suburban wasteland with nothing but "chains".

How foolish I've been.

I learned that, because I don't live in NYC, I'm a country bumpkin who lives in a wanna-be-NYC. My existence is not as meaningful as it could be... In NYC.

I was a casual lurker for awhile before joining. I enjoyed comparing places I've lived to each other and city data was first in the search engine. My very first search was Chicago vs Atlanta vs South Florida. After lurking for sometime I decided to join. I still to this very day lurk more than I post and enjoy reading some of the more informative post. I'm usually too busy to send well thought out post from the comfort of my PC or tablet and most times I have shoot a quick post on my iphone.

I've moved 2x since I joined. But really I just like C-Ds format, you can discuss local issues on a local forum that is reasonably active and then there are a lot of other comprehensive forums for discussion all while using an alias. A lot of websites are going to Facebook for commenting and I don't like that, but I like the anonymity of this format.

I would say that I am amazed at the amount of travel people have on here , especially in the united states. People will post on how awful places are that are very far from where they live, and tell you almost emphatically how bad a place is that is 200-1,000 miles and more from where they are posting, have they even visited these places?

I could only give you somewhat educated guesses about alot of my own city and county and my own state, probably very uneducated guesses outside of my own town and regions I know, and maybe some impressions from where my family lives around the country. Much less other cities and states and regions I have only visited for a few days. Most people have encyclopedic knowledge about the problems other towns, cities and states face that are very far from where they live and maybe never step foot in?
