Toronto and Vancouver life closely resemble NYC or LA living in my opinion. Canadians are becoming more Americanized culturally and their cities are as well in my opinion. So much so I could actually foresr a merger within the next 50 years as "lofty" as that sounds. Pretty soon all cultural differences will be gone.

What would be the advantage to either in country in merging?
I think it's more that North American cities are all pretty much the same to begin with, and not so much that US and Canadian cities are becoming more alike.
Canadian cities are relatively low in crime compared to most U.S. cities, have good public transportation systems, are heralded for having a high quality of life... I think many U.S. cities should be more like Canadian cities in certain capacities!

...except not as cold in the Winter.
and, yes, I know....there are lots of American cities that are colder. It's just a joke.

Agreed! There are little differences like that do make them stand out. Toronto in particular has low crime and good public transit.

I don't know, I think Toronto is pretty damn different from Albuquerque. Of course you could do most of the same things in both cities, but you could say the same about Stuttgart or Chongqing nowadays too.
What are you comparing their public transit to? NYC and Chicago?
NYC is probably the only US city with a better system than Toronto. This isn't so much because Toronto's system is great, but rather because the US is so bad at public transit.
