I wanted make this thread because I watched a world according to briggs video about cites that are unfriendly and all of the BoshWash metros were on the list. I'm surprised that Baltimore made the list because I find B more friendly and Bostonmassmabe agree with me. What cites do you find friendly in the northeast?
Probably somewhere like New Haven or Stamford. Baltimore is friendly but the people can be loose cannons. I bump into some street-hardened people and some people I think are prejudiced a bit too often. Sometimes the southern thing of like forced friendliness comes on.
Connecticut people are mor polite than "friendly" actually tbh. Hmm.
It's not DC. Philly is possible. IDK they all can be friendly once you get past the cold hardened exterior.
Baltimore and Washington DC are technically Southern cities. Even though most do not consider them Southern, they are definitely not purely Northeastern Cities.
So I will eliminate them from my answer. TBH, the friendliest cities have been in different parts of Pennsylvania. Even outside of Philly, you find pretty friendly people. In my limited experience, Upstate New York is pretty friendly too.
Admittedly biased, but my legitimate experience is that Pennsylvanians tend to be the most naturally affable and "give you the shirt off their back types," especially in/around Philly and Pittsburgh. Not universally, of course--just more likely.
New England, NJ and NY is more of a mixed bag. Some very incredibly friendly and kind people, no doubt. But also much more likely to run into incredibly self-absorbed or egotistical types. Not so much in Northern New England--they're just more reserved/quiet by Northeast standards.
