In Minnesota our hockey team is a lot better than our football team.

Alabama:

QB = Bart Starr and Kenny Stabler
WR = John Stallworth and Terrell Owens
OT = Walter Jones
TE = Ozzie Newsome
LB = Andre Tippett
DE = Buck Buchanan

If the thread was about best football team using players who went to college in the state... well, that would be a much longer list.

Maryland (a basketball state) surprisingly a good number of notables:

CB= Joe Haden
WR= Tavon Austin
RB= Todd Gurley
WR= Stefon Diggs
LB=Navarro Bowman
ILB= EJ Henderson
DT= Darnell Dockett
LB= Julian Peterson
DE= Jelani Jenkins
WR= Darius Heyward-Bey
LB= Shawbe Merriman
RB= Lamont Jordan
RB= Calvin Hill
QB= Doug Flutie

Would like to add Cameron Wake, Vernon and Vontae Davis but their from DC so maybe doesn't count?

Also: Coach= Bill Belichick is from Annapolis.

Let's not get crazy now. Nobody beats Big Earl.

I'll do my list later. Texas is right at the top for sure.

I sense a little homerism there. Let me see if I can make the connection.

No the Tyler Rose was great. He was before my era but still in the SB era. Ladanian was a great RB.

Isn't Doug Flutie from Natick MA or at least played his HS ball there?

Texas, Florida, California, Georgia, and Ohio are usually the top 5 states in talent for college kids. It's no coincidence that these states will lead for NFL players as well. Louisiana and Pennsylvania are probably next in line after these top 5. Texas, California, and Florida are known as the big 3 when it comes to college football recruiting.

I think ours (MA) would just be Doug Flutie playing by himself. MA and New England in general produces some O and D linemen, but I didn't feel like looking them u[.

What about Bo Jackson at RB? Osi Umenyiora and DeMarcus Ware both went to Auburn High and Troy for high school and college football.

Some players from MA that come to mind are Mark Bavaro(Danvers), Joe Morris(Ayer), Mark Chmura(So. Deerfield Frontier), the Hasselbeck brothers(Xaverian Brothers) and Fred Smerlas(Waltham) are some that come to mind.
