I really don't like the look of the sunbelt suburbs, largely because I see them all the time. The northern suburbs have character and I guess they are just a classic look in my opinion. As far as the interior goes in many of these home, the design doesn't make a whole of sense.
Funny...Atlanta is a Sunbelt city and has nothing that looks like the 'Sunbelt' pics. Rather, the 'Northern' pics could be any Atlanta suburb.
Agreed. The Piedmont South looks just like the "northern" pics.
The only areas of the country that have lots of stucco, as well as lots of palms, are, as one poster mentioned, southern California, Arizona, and Florida. The rest of the "Sunbelt" looks nothing like those "Sunbelt" pics, but looks like typical "USA", but of which is classified in this thread as "northern".
I prefer the architecture of the sunbelt, over that of other regions. I just think Spanish/Mediterranean architecture is very bright, classy and inviting. This type of architecture however, is not just in California, Arizona, and Florida. There are plenty examples of this style throughout Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas as well.
I have always though that the south had prettier architecture, and that the north had prettier scenery.
I agree. The pictures of northern suburbs the OP posted don't look like your typical middle-class northern suburbs, but rather upper-class northern suburbs. The links you posted are what the typical northeastern suburbs look like.
For me, it's a wash between upper-class northern suburbs and upper-class southern suburbs. But if comparing middle-class northern suburbs to middle-class southern suburbs, then I prefer the southern suburbs.
