I was just wondering how many people relocated from where they grew up, not because of a job or a significant other but just to get away from where they live their whole life.
I moved from Cleveland to Boston without a job or friends or family, but with an idea of why I wanted to be there, and not out of boredom of hatred of Cleveland (which I quite like and visit 2-3 times a year). I think it's very important to have a rational plan of why you're leaving home, what you expect to do there, etc rather than the emotional feeling of wanting to get away and find yourself or something along those lines. Moving can definitely help, but you shouldn't do it on a whim without critical thought. If you feel bad about where you are now, it could be more a flaw in yourself than anything else.
Well I'm stuck where I'm at for a few more years at least until the kids graduate high school and this is not a definite it's just a question of how many people left where they grew up just to be somewhere different instead of having to move for a job. Memphis is a great place to visit but if I would've had my way I would've moved away in my teens.
