Always had a curiosity wondering if such a place existed...a rural area or small town where your typical house butted right up against the ocean? No massive dunes with high rise beach rentals. Think a rural farming area, with a few houses where your back yard may go from grass to the ocean... Assuming the area would have to be fairly undeveloped to where no real big beach existed...I know there are places like this out of America, but i have travelled a lot of the coastal areas on all coasts and have yet to find.

If you replace ocean with lakes, you could find this. Perhaps you may find something like this in Maine, but I'm not completely sure about that.

Such a place would be on high bluffs because grass dies when salt water soaks it. Any place on high bluffs that is buildable would be very expensive.

Oregon. And southern coast of Washington. "Drive" it on Google Maps' Street View.

There are areas like this on some of the Great Lakes--which are large enough to make you think they're oceans if you didn't know better.

An area like this kind of fits, as it is near Lake Ontario: https://goo.gl/maps/EzLVCULSei32

Or this area further along the shore: https://goo.gl/maps/ZHxVYQj2PL12

Another community along the shore: https://goo.gl/maps/8Ujf3AHsxQk
