These actually make sense. They run south to the Blue Hills, a hilly area south of Boston.

Scenic Highway in Baton Rouge runs past a large number of refineries, chemical plants and railyards.

In Louisiana's Great River Road you can't always see the Mississippi River because of the large floodwalls.
