People sure love to flaunt and try to live a flashy lifestyle but its clear that their economy and job market are pretty weak; and poverty and illegal immigration is rampant
Durham NC is a good example of "more" in my opinion. It's home to Duke University and world renowned Duke Health/Duke University Medical Center and research facilities, North Carolina Central University (one of the better HBCUs), corporate headquarters for dozens of major companies (including Bell & Howell, IBM, GlaxoSmithKline, Bayer, BASF, Quintiles and Cato Research) and is home to a thriving national caliber performing arts center (DPAC) as well as the ADF-American Dance Festival every summer.
All college towns would have more, if I understand the concept right.
Less? Phoenix, San Antonio, and El Paso spring to mind. Few major-league sports teams or highly-ranked or large universities (besides ASU on the latter point), mediocre downtowns, low levels of education, seem to be underrepresented in celebrities and creative output per capita.
I feel like hospitals doesn’t correlate as strongly with the size of the city as most other institutions do Though.
Rochester, MN, Boston, Cleveland, Ann Arbor are Home to the best hospitals in the country which is sort of all over the place in terms of city size.
While things like NFL teams or Ballet Companies might have an outlier or two the coorelation isn’t as strong with hospitals.
Well, the OP does mention healthcare as an aspect and some may not think of Cleveland as having such a facility of that stature.
