Odd question, but my wife and I love smaller cities/towns, and Trader Joes

I believe one is about to open in Wichita, and that might be the smallest market.

We have a population of ~51,000 here and have a Trader Joes. Olympia is the state capital as well.

There’s one in Madison, which is smaller than Wichita, but metro areas are about the same size.

My guess is that the smallest municipality with one is like a small suburb of a major city, while the smallest metro area is probably a college town of some sort.

There is actually a discussion about this in Reddit.

So far, the three best guesses are Bend, OR (pop 97,590), Portland, ME (pop 67,067) or Hadley, MA (pop 5,250).

https://www.reddit.com/r/traderjoes/...a_trader_joes/

The smallest community with a TJ's here in GA is Athens (pop 125,691).

Charlottesville (48k) has Trader Joe's and a Whole Foods. They have alot of stores/businesses (Atheleta, William's Sonoma, Orangetheory, etc.) you'd be surprised to see in such a small town.

Charlottesville has to be the winner as more a stand alone than the others. Asheville should be among the runner ups given it's population is just 90K plus also maintains both Whole Foods and Earth Fare locations too.
