Is this becoming new trend in US cities?

I spend a day in Rhode Island passing through community and I was really shocked it seem like one in three people wearing sweatpants and I don't mean nice sweatpants but really baggy and lose sweatpants on both guys and girls.

It seem like in every 5 people one was wearing pajama pants.

Is this new trend like the the wide bell bottoms jeans of the 60s and 70s ?

Spending some time in Los Angeles 90% of the people do not wear sweatpants or pajama pants.

I talked to some of my friends one from the UK and she said this is common in some suburbs of the UK.

Other a Mexican said you never see that in Mexico.

Even time me being up in Seattle and suburbs of Seattle like Tacoma 90% of the people do not wear sweatpants or pajama pants.

But my friend he sees this has trend like the bell bottoms jeans of the 60s and 70s

So have you notice this trend in some cities and not other cities?

Sweatpants are made to be worn publicly. Pajama pants aren't.

I wear The North Face black polartec fleece pants all the time in the winter. It was -2F this morning. I telecommute from my Vermont ski place in the winter. I’m not going to wear that in a nice restaurant and that’s not work attire in an office but I’m generally in either Gore Tex ski gear or polartec when I’m not skiing and not on a business trip.

I wear sweatpants during the day on a daily basis since I am retired and workout at the gym most days....I do, however, change into pants (jeans or slacks) later in the day when going out for dinner or drinks. I alternate between my old school Russell sweatpants and ones from Lululemon or Adidas.

A fashion statement for some. It looks better than some things I can't un-see.

The weather may be part of the reason.

It just in Los Angeles and Seattle like Tacoma 90% of the people do not wear sweatpants or pajama pants

I was just curious the difference in US cities trends and difference among cities.

The time I was around Hispanics guys and girls seem to like wearing Jeans and some Yoga pants they don't wear sweatpants or pajama pants.

And they normally wear really tight t-shirts or shirts not baggy t-shirts like white guys and girls.

I think this is culture difference among Hispanics and white people.

You're at least 10 years late on this. I wouldn't say it's extremely common, but it is socially acceptable.
