Okay - need suggestions/help. I went to fill up the gas hog and we have been using E85. There are two stations near us that sell it . . . and both have signs out saying "temporarily out." What is going on w/ that????
Anyone have suggestions? I got on mapquest's site for gas/fuel but they only have a few stations showing and they are not nearby. Any other websites you all know about that I can use? Suggestions? I am bummed. What is going on w/ no E85????
At the same time, using corn for fuel is making beef and edible corn more expensive.
Just fill the tank with the cheapest gas you can find, ignore E85...it is a boondoggle.
Peak oil (google it) has happened and it is going to get much worse over time.
$9 in the UK now, and $11 in Germany (per gal).
Thank you, Scotsman! Closest station is about 15 miles . . . so it would take me nearly a gallon to get there and a gallon back, LOL!!! I called - they have it for 24 cents cheaper than gas. Pretty crazy. I don't understand why the station near me (only 2 miles) is not carrying it. The link you gave me even has it noted that the station I use is "temporarily not selling E85." I wonder why they are not selling it . . .

Mullman, you are so right. And what gets me is . . . we bought this vehicle b/c it used E85 - we thought we were being eco-conscious by doing that. And we had been using E85 and paying MORE for it than regular gas. Then we started reading reports on how it has caused the price of corn to go up. Really upsetting. We both telecommute so we are very frugal w/ gas, but we have a second home in Blowing Rock/Boone area so we head up that way . . . we are often loaded down w/ people, dog and luggage . . . and need the space . . . We thought we were making a smart choice and now we are scratching our heads.
At least the high price of corn is helping eliminate high fructose corn syrup from many food products.

Yeah Kevin Hall at Hall Family Farm has a deal where he gives one of the local restuarants produce and they give him grease for his tractors. It works because diesel was designed to run on peanut oil.
With the food shortage right now, E85 is going to have supply issues. Be prepared.
