Henry's BBQ on Market Street. in San Diego. The brisket sandwich with a little mustard, hot sauce, and BBQ sauce is the best I ever had outside of the BBQ bastion states. I went to Big Mouth in Great Falls Mt. and to Famous Dave's in Missoula and they can go "sell it for less" as my old buddy used to say. There is nothing I hate worse when it comes to BBQ is when someone chops up some crappy hunk of beef or pork that has been boiled or something, smothers it with some canned BBQ sauce and then has the audacity of calling it BBQ ! Fair vendors are notorious for this. When it comes to BBQ I like all regional styles as long as it's smoked meat and falls apart ! The old choppers ain't what they used to be !
The best 'Q in America is in Arkansas. It's neighbors are Texas, Tennessee, Missouri, all BBQ heavens.
Speaking of... If any of you travel US 63 between El Dorado and PineBluff, stop at The Sugar Shack BBQ in Hermitage 12 miles south of Warren. Outstanding brisket, chicken, sausage, ribs. Slow cooked and every bite is delicious I garontee! MMM MM!
I like BBQs on a cold afternoon, so I'd have to say Alaska is the best place for a summer BBQ.
Here in lies a HUGE problem...most people outside the south don't even REALLY know what BBQ is. So many people thinking throwing a piece of meat on a grill is BBQ!!!

You got that right. You have no idea (or maybe you do) how disappointed I was when I was living out west and someone invited me over to their house for a "bbq." All he did was throw a few burgers and hot dogs on a grill. I almost cried.

heh - we did this in upstate NY as well - bbq meant grilling
i definitely make the distinction now and if I have people over for BBQ or am bringing BBQ they know what they are getting - even stuff I do at higher heat like chicken has a nice rub and smoke to it
I just did my first brisket this past weekend - turned out really well - don't know why it took me so long to branch out to beef - kept the point on a lot longer and chopped it, turned out pretty decent - not as smokey as i'd like or much contrast between the bark and inner meat
the flat was right on though - good taste, texture, etc
people think i'm crazy to start lunch at 7pm the night prior - but that's what it takes - a little all night love and they have no problem showing up to eat

*sigh* yeah...I do know all too well. I personally don't BBQ anything, I don't have the time, skill, or equipment so I always make sure I tell people I'm "grilling" if I invite them over.
