Places like Miami (and rest of FL) have dismal education/literacy/numeracy rates among all residents, both US-born and immigrants....

If Florida has a literacy problem amongst the youth it certainly would not be found in Miami or the rest of South Florida for that matter.
Speaking English does not equate intellect but try telling that to a moronic "American" who has language issues.
I do agree that immigrants are industrious but for you to say that Miami isn't that all unique? The wealthiest hispanics reside in Florida and pray tell when have you ever heard of a Cuban gang? They don't exist!
