Overrated ? Definitely Not !
Overpriced ? Unfortunately Yes.

All opinions aside the market sets the price.
If a place is outrageously priced it's obviously
worth it to the people who can afford it.

When I went there, the people were open and friendly. The downtown isn't the best for its size, but there were good restaurants and it is improving. They have one of the best zoos in the world, good museums in Balboa Park, great beaches, great scenery, and a relatively relaxed lifestyle. What's not to like?

San Diego is underrated to me. It is a fairly large city with a nice relaxed lifestyle, but you never here to much about it unless a Panda is being born at the zoo or a whale goes crazy at Sea World. It has some beautiful scenery too. The only downside would be it is expensive and the salaries are not as high as LA area and Bay Area.

I grew up there, I would say the city was under rated 30 years ago and very over rated today. I got out of there about 12 years ago and am happy to freeze in Montana ( way below zero the last week or two with blizzards) , than be pestered with the common but recently named bacteria known as Cyansaparechangius Panhandlotes !!!

San Diego has a lot of big problems right under the surface. When you live there for a few months you start to see them. I don;t think it is over-rated, it does offer a lot of good things. But a lot of people are not aware of all the bad parts of living there.

San Diego can be an amazing place if you have a lot of money. If you do not have a lot of money, your lifestyle will be very similar to inner city LA. Gangs, major crime, high living costs, dangerous streets, etc.

San diego has some very dangerous parts and lots of gangs. Lots of people don't know this.

San Diego is a comfortable place to live or visit. I am in San Diego at least once a month [family] & take the "Coastliner" train for a relaxing ride. The beaches are great & food is good plus Balboa Pk & zoo are fantastic. People in San Diego don't brag about their city or put on airs. Calling it "America's Favorite City" is just a tourist industry promotional slogan. And downtown SD is improving immensely [I remember when it was just drunk sailors & porn shops
