There are lots of little towns I wouldn't mind living in. As long as it isn't Boston, which I can't stand.

Sadly, nowhere. Most of the cities in New England outside the Boston metro area are dilapidated. I do like the outdoors here in the summer so maybe Burlington or Bar Harbor, but I would want out in the winter.

Outside of Boston I think the sweet spots SHOULD be Springfield or Hartford. They have nice central locations and are near alot of attractions. But unfortunately I say SHOULD because both cities have seen better days. Still I know Hartford has nice suburbs and I expect Springfield does as well.

I also like the way Springfield is a wee bit set off from the Bosh-Wash corridor yet not far from it. Reminds me of Albany.

I think parts of coastal Maine and New Hampshire along with Southwestern Connecticut are very nice also. Also what about the S. Coast of Massachusetts like New Bedford and Bristol?
