I've never fished anywhere but Oklahoma. My kids are almost gone and we have thought many times of packing up and going on a fishing spree.

Oklahoma is great. The cold Illinois River with its trout and bass. The deep dirty Arkansas River with its record catfish. Lake Tenkiller holds all kinds of fish. Kerr Lake jugging and meathunting.

But I would like to know how it is in your home. I might want to visit.

Well I fish every month I want to for everything from little Perch to 30#+ Chinook Salmon and everything in between. If it is a freshwater fish, chances are good that I can go a few short miles and have a fishery for it around here. The new world record Brown Trout was caught just a few miles from where I live. Brown Trout (http://mffc.org/blog/?p=75 - broken link)

My personal favorites are Chinook (King) Salmon and Steelhead in the Fall. We have it all here in the forms of fishing, from downrigger fishing (Which was started on the Great Lakes) to surf casting, to bank fishing rivers and creeks. Nothing like dropping a downrigger a couple hundred feet down and knowing you still are hundreds of feet off the bottom (Deepest part of Lake Michigan is just a short ways away at 925' deep) and watching that rod take on it's deep bend, then waiting for it to snap to attention and knowing you just tied into a nice big King.

Here is a decent place to start a search on the fishing Michigan has to offer. Fish Michigan

Georgia has held the official record for the biggest Large Mouth Bass for over 70 years. Trout fishing is great in North Georgia as well.

A good argument could be made for Alaska, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Florida, or Louisiana. All of these states offer world class fishing. It would be imposible to pick one, they all offer such different fishing opportunities.
