I don't know about the arch...everything else I guess seems fairly understandable, but what about the White House, Empire State Building, EXPRESSWAYS AND SUBURBIA?!?!?

Empire State Building is #2.

I would think that list is about right.

With most of them I do...I would put a few others above the Space Needle in Seattle since several cities have similar observation towers (CN Tower/Toronto; Tower of the Americas/San Antonio; Stratosphere/Las Vegas; Calgary Tower/Calgary; Reunion Tower/Dallas; etc.)

I think the White House and Washington Monument would be among them, but they included Lincoln's statue from his monument so I guess they covered DC.

I have to defend the Space Needle here. It was the first of its kind, and still stands out as being the most unique. Yes, Canada is part of North America, but this thread is titled "American landmarks", open to interpretation, but "American landmarks" to me means U.S.

I would probably put the Golden Gate Bridge ahead of the Gateway Arch, but overall, a solid list.

I agree with the names being recognizable, but not the images as much.

I think that was a pretty good list.

I think that arch thing is the weakest on the list, though. I don't think a lot of Americans would be able to recognize and locate it, let alone foreigners.
