before wwII the american elite would bring up images of nyc and boston. now nyc, dc, sf, la and perhaps chi and bos in the next 20 yrs or so with the population shift do you think some places like atl, dallas, and houston will be included as stereotypical residences of the American Elite?

I think there will always be many intelligent people in Boston, New York, San Francisco, etc...

I have noticed that there are many intelligent (maybe you could call the American Elite) moving to Seattle.

Nationally, many people don't know, but there are many intelligent "American elite" here in Michigan. Specifically in the Ann Arbor areas centered around the University of Michigan.

It's likely where those <45 yo today who own world's most valuable companies choose to work and live

That's Palo Alto area and Midtown Manhattan today

Next tier will be Dallas and Houston, esp with energy industry-related wealth

Wealth is far more globalized, mobile and virtual today vs even 10yrs ago, but world's most lucrative (and creative) industries are largely HQ'd in these 4 urban/suburban regions

No! The origins of the American elite will remain in DC, Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami.

They will always remain in places like LA and NYC. Why else would they go to an inferior city if they can afford a luxurious lifestyle in the 2 most expensive/posh cities in the country?

What do you mean by "American elite"? Old school, old money elite, or just just people who make a lot of money? If you mean "the establishment," I think they will continue to live in New York. In fact, they are more concentrated in New York than ever before.

Before WWII there was a Social Register in Cleveland. Every city of any size had its version of the establishment, dominated by a handful of churches, country clubs and private schools. Establishment social circles have become more national. The trend is likely to continue.

You're missing a lot of areas that are home base for a lot of the wealthy and influential. Do you have any idea what the spread of wealth is like in the US?
