What is the job market like in Athens? Is it like other college towns in the sense that we're talking retail/food/UGA or nothing? Or is it a little bit more diverse than that.

Being that there are so many students coming out of the UGA and Athens Tech every year the job market is very competitive.

What sector are you interested in?
The job market in certain sectors is very competitive, however there are many industries begging for employees like medical. Of course UGA, retail and food service needs are high but poorly paid. What sector will you be seeking employment in?

Have you checked out the county sites onlline to see positions are available? There seems to be alot of opportunity. Most of the counties adjoining Athens are also online, so you may want to check out Madison, Jackson, and Barrow counties also.
