Least favorite stretch of i-16??

Seeing as how Im' originally from Atlanta (where family still lives) but live in Savannah, I've driven that stretch of road at all hours of the day and night and in all types of weather (the first and ONLY time I've ever hydroplaned was during a rainstorm on the flat, slick segment between the Bloomingdale and Pembroke exists; I went into a skid toward the median, then spun around 180 degrees FACING oncoming traffic, before sliding BACKWARD off the highway and slamming into a stand of trees. SCARY! But I digress.)

-- What's your favorite / least favorite stretch of I-16? (Guess another way to put it: Tolerable / Least Tolerable)
-- Do you have an I-16 horror story? Good samaritan story?
-- Any secret places to stop for food/gas (other than Metter or Dublin) that you're willing to share? Or do you just put it on cruise and go all the way to Macon without stopping?
-- Known speed traps?
-- Available radio stations (can't ever find a good one ... unless you like country or hillbilly gospel, especially at night)

I'll start by saying that the absolute WORST stretch is westbound from just north of Dublin all the way to Jeffersonville or thereabouts, where the right hand truck lane is crumbling to know end and full of cracks. I'm pretty certain this is caused by all the heavy truck traffic going from the port to ATL. It's almost as bad coming eastbound on that same stretch, which makes me also want to believe there might have been a construction flaw there. (Something similar occurred on SB I-85 from the airport to Newnan several years ago when the same corner of every 20-foot section of concrete slipped lower than the rest of the roadway broke off; the DOT eventually came in, ripped up the entire foundation and replaced all the concrete, but it took FOREVER).

ALSO: Has anybody heard an update on the widening / redesign of I-75 through Macon? Heard it's supposed to include an overhaul of the 75/16 split to make it a spaghetti junction?

Man I used to make this drive once or twice a week. The absolute worst stretch is from Savannah to Macon. I always made sure I stopped in Savannah and topped my tank off and bough food or water because I knew it was going to get desolate for about 2 hours.

I-16 has literally nothing between Macon and Savannah, and driving through east Georgia doesn't just bore me -- it depresses me.

Ugh, exactly. It's so soul crushingly boring that I can't even express it. It's just depressing.

At night, it's pitch black, and displays vivid views of the stars. It's actually quite peaceful. Very few cars, by and large. It's a far cry from I-85 in northeast Georgia, which has the same amount of lanes and is relatively crowded.

Radio stations become minimal when you get around Soperton, located just far away from Macon, Vidalia, Statesboro, and Savannah. You can pick up a Dublin station or two, maybe one from Vidalia, and perhaps a few from Macon.

I agree with Starsandstripesforever. It's really nice to be so close to the stars. Currently there is one lane construction in both directions between Dublin and Soperton. Usually there is not much traffic at night but more during daylight hours. Even with the traffic and delays it is still better than Ga 29.
