I want to redo my trim inside my house. I want to change the base, chair, crown, window, and door trim. Do subs price by th foot or by the hour or both? I want to be able to compare when I get the estimate and have some knowledge of what I am recieving. I am in South Georgia if that makes a difference.

By the foot. Lately, I've heard $3-10 per foot, depending on the type of trim you want, on bare walls. But first you've got removal. You'll pay extra for that, if you don't do it yourself. And then you've got caulk and painting.

When I replaced mine, I bought the trim, painted it thoroughly and let it dry a couple weeks before handling it. Then, I only had to caulk the nail holes and edges, and make a light pass over nails and scuffs with a paintbrush. That's way easier than taping and painting on the wall 3-4 times.

Be sure to get a good nail gun if you diy. Saves a ton of time and work.
