My husband was offered a job in Sylvester, GA. We know very little about Ga. and were looking for some input on the area. Any help would be greatly appreciated

My grandparents lived right outside of Sylvester on a farm. I have fond memories of spending time in the area when growing up. Sylvester is largely a community supported by agriculture - it's claim to fame is the annual Peanut Festival, which is a pretty big deal. It's bucolic, slow-paced and tranquil. The folks there, though, are very nice and warm.

What part of the country are you coming from? Are you in the south? Are you coming from a primarily agricultural area?

There will be more things in common with a rural agricultural area in most any part of the country compared to a more urban/industrial area.

First of all it is big speed trap town- as most are between Albany and Tifton. However, if you like 'true' southern people it is great. the big question would be what your race is however.

I used to cruise all them back roads around Sylvester lolo- remember me 'ValdostaRichard'? Love ridn' around especially around 112 and Birdge'ber. Thank God I live in such a better region than SoWeGa now though! majority of small town and rural-SoWeGa, West 'Alabam', Missisissippi, and SW South Cackalacky is not much American in the least. And people think Appalachian WV and KY is poverty and filth. Whoaaa, the regions I mentioned have that beat by miles. SW South Cack beats them all though. Ya know- Barnwell Bamberg and so on huh Ansley?
