Does anyone know anything about the Courtyard Subdivision? I saw a listing for a duplex there. IT looks nice but trulia has it listed in the red zone for crime. I looked at crimereports.com, but all I saw was marijuana possession, a few domestic disputes, but it didn't seem like it was in the middle of "The Hood." But- I could be wrong. Just looking for some insight.

I do not know the exact location of this subdivision. I would think the only high crime areas in all of Coweta would be in some of the older parts of the core of Newnan, and in that area you have gracious old mansions and upscale neighborhoods just a few streets over from old tobacco road style shotgun houses in seedy areas.... the same kind of mixed neighborhoods common to all older southern towns. Remnants of the days when all sorts of people lived in town and what was considered good and bad could change by block. Not as monolithic as newer suburban areas where you get a very similar type of development on a large scale and the whole area can go up or down together. So a rough area might be mixed in with a very nice area in someone's demographic measuring stick boundaries (like this online rating guide). They might be measuring crime by a whole zip code. And in Newnan's core, that would have the most upscale old money neighborhoods and the hood crammed in together.

You are absolutely right! I looked at some areas that were recommended by the realtor, and they were only 2-5 miles in either direction of this area. Also, I was curious because many of the crimes listed for this era were shoplifting, theft, & DUI. I did a street view and found that a major road with retail stores and restaurants was a few blocks up. That's where a lot of the crime actually was. Thank you so much for your input!
