For HIV, yes. Pregnancy? No. (Kind of the point)

Moderator cut: Against forum guidelines

There are biological differences in the virus transmission that makes homosexual sex more risky than heterosexual sex. Moderator cut: .

The answer to your question was in my initial response to the OP. Feel free to address it.

Not true.

To this day, there are no gay bathhouses in San Francisco. And gay porn is still far more likely to use condoms than straight porn is.

Folks, I'd like to be able to keep this thread open, but the discussion needs to remain civil and on topic.

Some things to keep in mind as you post:
  • Posts that will be deleted include anything that violates either the TOS or this forum's guidelines.
  • Make sure you are discussing the topic, not other posters. Simply because a person has a different view than you does not make them a bad person.
  • If you think a post is out of line report it, do not comment on it.
  • If you think a post violates the TOS or forum guidelines report it, don't comment on it.
  • No discussion of the definition of gay bashing.
  • No discussion of whether homosexuality is morally acceptable or not.
  • No discussion about whether various sexual acts are deviant or not.
  • Hate language will get you infracted.

I think an interesting point based on the article is that this isn't limited to gay people and the WHO never meant it to be.

Quote:
The new guidelines also focus on other high-risk groups, pointing out that men who have sex with men, transgender people, prisoners, people who inject drugs and sex workers together account for about half of all new HIV infections worldwide.
Overall, the approach itself does create a rather interesting situation though. This is one of the first times that taking an ongoing "treatment" has been suggested as a preventative measure for a disease. I'm surprised they would suggest this because normally this would result in a higher rate of mutation, possibly leading to a Super HIV that was resistant to treatment.

Face up to the truth. Gays were asked to STOP it for their own good...ignored all health authority suggestions and recommendations and then whined like little kids that the world was ignoring their plight.
Do you have that assertion backed up by a non-biased source? I am curious to see if this, indeed, true.

This is the title of the thread: 33 Years Ago, Gay Behavior Resulted In An HIV/AIDS Explosion; It's Exploding Again. Will Heterosexuals Again Suffer?

My reply is this. As a straight person, I hope, pray and wish that any kind of HIV/AIDs explosion does not happen. I work with many gay people, mostly men. They are my friends. They have the same emotions and dreams of straight people..they want love, acceptance and happiness. How anyone could ever want them to have less than that is beyond me.

I urge everyone...straight or gay...to practice safe sex if they are in casual relationships...or if they have reason to question their partner's fidelity. AIDS still kills.

In effect, innocent heterosexual people (bystanders) will again end-up being collateral damage that resulted from a new explosion of irresponsible behavior within the gay community.

There is no reason in the world why anyone should have to learn for a second time that the stove is hot. Much less end-up causing people who do not go anywhere near the kitchen to be severely burned and/or die.

The lack of respect this demonstrates for other people goes far, far beyond disgraceful.

I forgot to add the link to the story in my OP.

AFP.com
If the heterosexual community were truly heterosexual this would be a non-issue (not including the other ways of contracting the disease).

It took them quite a few years to shut them down. An organization called "Sex Panic" even tried to stop that, even when it was becoming painfully clear that multiple partner sodomy was the key method of transmission.

Here you are. Extensively footnoted. Sadly, *an ideology* of so-called "liberation" allowed all common sense public health measures, used for all other diseases, to be blocked, for more than a few years.

A RADICAL HOLOCAUST

Its pretty shameful that 33 years later some people still are using this disease to promote bias against gays

Am I missing something or isn't it an inescapable fact that the majority of those afflicted with HIV/AIDS worldwide are straight? Ground zero of Transmission of SIV in chimps to humans (HIV) was in Africa, the most afflicted continent in the world where the vast majority who have it are heterosexual.. Clearly worldwide this is a human disease that won't be addressed meaningfully by finger pointing and blame.
