What are you opinions on how prison facilities should be... On TV and movies prisons are pretty basic without TVs, and some sharing a tiny cell.. have a look at some of these and give your say . some look like hotels.
That's it. I don't care one iota about feeling good personally about how bad someone has it. I care infinitely more about the safety of my loved ones than about any thrill I might get knowing about some criminal's deprivation. And I'd prefer that wherever I live takes its criminal justice cues from places with low crime rates and low recidivism rates.
As it happens, I live in a state - Minnesota - that usually ranks around #40 when the 50 states are ranked for violent crime (1 being worst, 50 being best).

1. prison should not be a resort
2. prison should be humane
3. all prisoners should work and pay for their upkeep.
4. anything above humane level should be considered "luxury" and treated as encouragement for good work - and paid for by prisoners.
5. just came at me. prisoners should be randomly rotated through prisons regularly, so that they do not manage to create alliances and gangs.
Sometimes uncomfortable works. Both Singapore and Japan have harsh prison environments. Both countries have low crime rates. In the West and particularly in Europe some prisons are almost hotel like. Many Asian countries have historically take a dim view of coddling law breakers.
In Singapore, a country on the equator, cells are neither air conditioned or supplied with fans. In both Japan and Singapore prisoners sleep on mats on a concrete floor. In both countries rule breakers are subject to physical punishment.

Great one. Still, preventing recidivism is so important that, as important as #1 and #2 are, I'd even put #5 above #1, though not #2. Prison gangs are simply 'graduate studies' in how to be a more effective criminal. Frequent rotation of inmates between prisons might do a lot to break up those networks. Still, perhaps it's simpler to look at systems that work better than ours, and copy their methods. Then, maybe, we as a society can try #5.
