You need to have a "none of the above". That would be me.
Your poll is as skewed as any lefty could possibly make it.
How would that have anything to do with a left/right balance? Ron Paul supports the legalization of all of those and he's the exact opposite of the left. Learn what Left and Right are before you generalize.
None for me. I did the marijuana & lsd thing when I was younger, and those days have been over for a long time. Would never ever pay for a prostitute, or use heroin, so I'll pass on all of them.
You didn't ask if we were currently doing them so how do you know if we are stopped by whether or not they are illegal?
Basically I am trying to find out just how many people are "scared off" by these things being illegal (hence how many people would actually do these things if they were legalized), I actually didn't want the people who do these things to vote in because obviously the law doesn't stop them.
wow the D.A.R.E. groups at your middle school are paying off! good for you.
except participating in these activities does not automatically make you a loser. letting these activities control your life does.
Very true, there have been some great people who have done these things. Nietzsche liked hookers (and paid big time for it), I could be wrong, but I think I heard that Carl Sagan smoked pot. There are 60+ years of musicians who have for sure. So I agree, just as drinking a beer doesn't make you a loser any more than smoking a joint - It's when these things rule your life that you are in trouble.
I've done all of them but heroin and the prositute. I don't see why marijuana is illegal anyway. If you ask me, alcohol is much more dangerous.
I've done some seriously stupid stuff when I was drunk that I would have never considered when I was high, cause I was just too damn lazy (and hungry)
I believe in the legalization of marijuana because I don't see how it is any worse than alcohol. In fact, in many ways- healthwise- its actually better than alcohol. That said, I'm not interested in doing it. I believe that a major reason it isn't legal is because of the pharmaceutical industry lobbyists.
As for heroin, I wouldn't be for legalizing that as the effects on the body and on society are too negative. Having had an aunt addicted to heroin, it was never the illegality of it that turned me off it, it was the visual reminder of what it does to you and your life. Ditto for LSD or other so called "hard" drugs.
Prostitutes have never been something I would have an interest in because the idea of it disgusts me. That said, I don't feel that I have the right to judge the choices of others. Legalization or at least decriminalization (while I don't fully understand the difference between the two) would probably be better in terms of health issues associated with it. Honestly, I don't see much of a difference between that and pornography which is legal.
I don't think most people are put off by the illegality as much as one might think. Access might be a different story. I think perhaps any increase in these after legalization would simply be because access was easier. But then again, I think perception of these things are still negative, still taboo, so perhaps people would be more likely to experiment with them after a generation when legality was the norm.
I'd be curious to know what would happen if cigarettes became illegal. Would it be another prohibition era style revolt where an underground market arises? Or would it simply fade out in the space of a few years or even a generation?
