A friend told me about his daughter who teaches school in Los Angeles. She was leaving her school to get to the freeway; 2 blocks from the school thugs reached through her open window, pulled her out, beat her so severely she was taken to emergency, took her purse and stole the car.
I lived in LA from 1954 to 1965 and it was a great, wonderful place to live. Now it is an armed camp.
Los Angeles has always been the thug capital of America. It is the city that gave birth to gangsta rap. So what do you expect from these people.
Funny how as humans we tend to see only the bad in things. L.A. has it's crime and it's problems but generally it has the wrong image by the rest of the world. There are also alot of great and kind residents there as well.
Everyday there are murders and gang wars all over the world but when it happens in L.A. it tends to get more publicity.
Columbine- Suburban Colorado
Jeffrey Dahmer- Wisconsin!
Andrea Yates kills her own children- Florida
1967 Detroit Riots leaving 43 dead.
Church Shootings in Colorado, Tennesee, Illinois, Texas and also in Southern California.
That's to rattle off a few so how can anyone with an open mind actually believe that that Los Angeles is the worse place with crime?
Someone (Charles?) needs to find and post a date list of crime comparison to straighten some of these people out.
These crowds are generally made up of young people who don't have anything to keep them occupied in a constructive way. I'm not excusing this behavior; on the contrary, I think they're all stupid idiots! What I've never understood is why this happens when the Lakers win! I guess any excuse to loot, riot, and commit crimes is good enough, right?
I definitely would have put my foot down on the gas pedal if I were in the middle of a building, hostile crowd!
clearly one incident doesn't represent a whole city. With that said... I'm from Philadelphia (plenty of violent crime and a tough repuatation) and we didn't attack our police officers when the Phillies won the World Series last year. It was the city's first championship in 25 years and we celebrated without major incident. LA has won many times over in recent years... this is nothing new to that city. Yet they find it necessary to attack their police officers and burn things. It's crazy to disrespect your own city like that.
Hey thanks for being so concerned with our city and for visiting/frequenting/starting threads on the Los Angeles forum.
Los Angeles has a population of 11,000,000 people so the less than 100 or so people who were behaving like lunatics (most were in east LA) really does not give an accurate representation of LA or those that were happy with the win yesterday. If you think that the actions of 100 or less (25 arrests) of 11,000,000 people mean that the entirel 11,000,000 are bad, then I think you have more to worry about than LA.
This kind of activity happens in most all big cities. Remember Detroit, Chicago, St Louis, etc... when their teams have won in the past. Either way win or lose these same losers are going to riot and burn; they're the same ones we all support when we get up in the morning to go to work, sad truth. I think the other crime is that they got any media attention at all.

The vast majority of people were not out in the streets. LA County is home to more than 10 million people. It's was a small minority of people, moslty illegal immigrant thugs and their offspring, who were looking for an excuse to loot and cause trouble. Has nothing to do with the Lakers and their victory.
