The safety blitz is coming soon (http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-31836-Dallas-Trucking-Examiner~y2010m5d5-The-safety-blitz-is-coming-soon - broken link)
I can see both sides of the coin here. If there is a major exam coming, students know ahead of time. The other side is..should drivers and companies be warned about safety inspections ahead of time? The advanced warning can give companies warning to get their equipment up to par, or warn them to stay off the roads...what do you think?
I would like to use the comments here in an upcoming article.
The danger of big rigs on the road is often severely exaggerated. Less than 2% of all traffic fatalities in the USA are in crashes in which the driver of a commercial vehicle is found at fault. That's less than two per day, nationwide.
I can see both sides too, but with that said they should be able to pull you over and do a safety inspection. Here in Utah every year you have to have one done to register your vehicle and motorcycle (do not know about other vehicles) new cars are every other year. When I lived in NV there was a smog inspection, just something up the tailpipe and you could go.
