I was approx. 2000 miles from home when I was there so bringing my own water wasn't an option and like I said they were very concerned about the local water usage.
The park service is going to have to provide water to the 5 million annual visitors. If there issue such as long lines they will buy the water outside the park and bring it in.

I walked around Rome for 5 weeks, filling my water bottle throughout the city at the fountains with some of the best water I've ever had. Never waited in a line in Rome, can't imagine it would be that difficult to service a national park...
