A CHINESE inventor says she has devised a way to power phones with a can of Coca-Cola after concerns about the financial and environmental costs of mobile phone batteries.
Can't find it but I saw one where the guy plugged a cell phone into tomato and it came on. LOL
Okay, that THAT one got me laughing this morning. I can just see everyone walking around with a cell phone glued to their head and a tomato in their other hand.
He created a battery, The acids in the battery along with the contact probes that are most likely two different metals either created the power or he may have had to "charge the tomato" first.
I think the ancient Egyptians made batteries from lead rods and vinegar in clay jars and did gold electroplating with them.
A small piece of copper and a small piece of zinc are all you need as electrodes to make a battery out of anything from a potato to a lemon, or a can of coke, minus the can.
How environmentally friendly are cans of coke anyway, phosphoric acid, aluminium etc.
You can even make batteries out of salt water in an ice cube tray.
