Downtown property sold (http://www2.journalnow.com/content/2010/jun/11/110055/downtown-property-sold/news/ - broken link)

Quote:
A South Carolina company is dipping its toes into the downtown Winston-Salem residential market by signing a contract to buy Coe Plaza.

Officials with U.S. Development Co. of Columbia, S.C., said yesterday that if the mixed-use project on Trade Street proves successful, it could pursue a larger presence.

David Bryant, the president of the company, said that it plans to spend up to $9 million on buying and renovating the 50,000-square-foot building near ISP Sports.

The goal is 60 high-end studio and one-bedroom units for rent on three floors of the building in the $700-a-month range. It also has plans for a restaurant and retail shops on the first floor, all by the end of 2011.

Which one of the buildings will be a Hyatt Place? I like that they're keeping "Piedmont" and "Crawford" in the names of the two projects.

It would have been several pages back at this point. Last post was in February. (EDIT: Granted, it looks like this thread is actually even older than that one).

The Crawford looks like a nice mid-rise project.
