Just posted how Time Warner Cable is doing shady business to try to get more money by changing service without it being ordered or them even telling you about it.
Well, after seeing that local tv news segment about electric rates and customers being overcharged I called Duke Energy and made sure I was on the right rate for all electric RE (if you have gas for anything you don't qualify)....the rep said I was.
Well, I just looked closly at my last bill and I'm not! I'm on the higher rate as if I have gas something. RS for plain residential service.
I put it in writing this time, email and got a response saying they were sending me a form.
Boy oh boy....people robbing you left and right here in the Triad.
It's a crock that there are different residential rates, but I guess that's the perk of being a utility company; they will get their money one way or another. Your post prompted me to look at my bill & I'm on the RS and I do have gas appliances.
Things could be worse, High Point's electric rates are much higher than Duke's.
I live in Rock Hill and am on York Electric. I now pay 10 cents per kilo watt hour!! Check your Duke bill. Exclude any taxes or fees and the fixed payment for your outdoor light if you have one. Then divide the amount by the number of kilowatthours you consumed and I'm pretty sure you are paying a lot less. Strangely I find no one who has a complaint about what they pay for power in Rock Hill
Our North Carolina utility rates are going up every year for the forseeable future. New (coal powered)power plants, the environmental idiots in Washington are going to be taxing our exhaled air (CO2), check the surrounding states especialy to the north. Maryland, Virginia and WVA's rates all have gone way up in the past two years. Duke energy has been low for way too long. They requested 13 % this year but did not get it all. They wanted 25%, I am told but knew with the recession there would be no way. They also reevaluated costing more per kilowatt hour before the rate hike was announced this fall.
South Carolina is building power plants also.
What the Hell is up with this???????????
I'm getting screwed along with many others!!!!!!!!!
