In Winston-Salem? Yes, very humid from mid June or so until early September or so. I can't offer any data on air quality, I'm sure a Google search would turn up data. There are definitely some code orange days.
Once you're in the east the humidity differences between areas is modest.
Spring pollen is probably a bigger factor for the sensitive.
