Amazon continues to expand its foorprint in the Triad:

"Amazon has signed a lease for 38 acres in the Piedmont Corporate Park, the second the company has signed in the Triad.

According to an April 16 agreement on file with the Guilford County Register of Deeds, Amazon.com Services Inc. will lease vacant land at 7941 National Service Road from LARS RE LLC. That company is managed by "="" data-ct="APT:bbm_profile_link">Samet">Arthur Samet, president and CEO of Samet Corp., the developer of Piedmont Corporate Park.

The ten-year lease begins Aug. 30 and includes five additional options to extend the lease by five years. The land has a Colfax address but is in the High Point city limits.

Efforts to reach Samet Tuesday afternoon were unsuccessful.

The developer markets Piedmont Corporate Park on its website as a "200 acre mixed use development perfect for office, light manufacturing and distribution facilities." The park is adjacent to Interstate 40 and N.C. Highway 68 and is about five minutes from the Piedmont Triad International Airport.

While Amazon's plans at the park are still unknown, its planned Kernersville distribution center at Triad Business Park has been in development since May 2018, when plans were submitted to the town."

The article also contains some additional details on the previously announced Amazon facility:

"In July, Amazon signed a lease with Seefried for up to 40 years for a 1 million-square-foot fulfillment center that's under development. Samet is the general contractor.

Neither Amazon and nor Seefried have commented on the fulfillment center.

The facility is expected to create between 500 and 1,000 jobs. The commercial building application for the center puts construction costs at nearly $59.2 million."

Some nice economic development successes for the Triad thats not getting a lot of attention.

I'm interested to see what they ultimately will do with the additional purchase.
