It was between Greensboro and Korea. While Korea won out the organization said that Greensboro could host it in future years. Greensboro has a resume hosting major events. PGA Wyndham Championship, ACC Tournament, NCAA men's basketball and a Final Four Championship in 1974, U.S. Figure Skating Championship two or three times and major national swimming championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Looking back this is what the city should focus on, not where the ACC locates its headquarters for 50 people. The irony of all this is that Greensboro doesn't need a "major" airport to host these events.

Not exactly. According to the News & Observer:

"North Carolina’s bid, which would have had the Triangle and Triad hosting the events, was headed by Hill Carrow, chairman and CEO of the N.C. Bid Committee." You forgot to mention that the Triangle area would host events as well. And, likely everyone would have flown into RDU vs. GSO. BTW - the N.C. Bid Committee is based in Cary, NC. Not Greensboro, NC.

Yet another update --- Cary, NC based organization attempting to land the 2027 games gets approval to host the 2029 games. In the Triangle, in Burlington and in Greensboro.
