Regardless of one's thoughts about Nancy Vaughan, G'boro has to get permission from the NCGA in order to implement the tax. I'd say there's virtually no chance that happens.

The Rhino was a great bar. The online blog that is the Rhino Times is a joke.

Huh?

The prepared tax is, correct me if I am wrong, only 2%. Not a deal breaker. For normal people.

Like I said in my previous post, I prefer to grill my own food. Plus, my wife and kids can never agree on a restaurant. Plus, I at 64 years old, I am free to grill my own food.

And definitely no if the money is funneled to general revenue rather than dedicated to a specific purpose.
I'm starting to think that this is just a typical Democratic mugging. We've heard Miss Nancy's ostensible rationale for the tax, and this from Skip Alston, Guilford County Board of Commissioners Chairman who supports the tax: "The African American community must get its fair share of the funds it will generate". He's salivating at the opportunity to spread other people's money around to enhance his own popularity and this is likely a first nibble of the ensuing feeding frenzy. This is why it's good to have adult supervision in Raleigh. Specifically earmark its intended purpose and put it out for a vote by the people it will affect. Personally, I'd keep an open mind before deciding, but the simple rationale that others are doing it isn't good enough. It's naive not to understand that Guilford County and Greensboro are in a less enviable economic situation than others being mentioned.
