My family is locating to the Greenville area. I am a nonprofit professional in search of employment. My background is specifically in resource development and program oversight. I would like to know what afp chapters or networking groups are active in the area? What is the donor/foundation/corporate giving environment like? Any special trends or happenings I should be aware of? I would come to the area with approximately 10 years experience. Is the competition especially stiff? What skills are employers especially keen on? Do consulting opportunities exist?
Also, we would need to know what type of opportunities exist for technical writers in the area (about 3 years experience). Is there a society of technical communicators in the area? What sectors do they typically service (IT, health, defense, other)?
What are the salary ranges for both? What types of fringe benefits to employers of these sectors typically offer their employees?
