I am moving to Greenville soon. Where I am coming from, I have a self-service safe deposit box at a bank. It just has one key, so a bank employee doesn't have to open it with you. I access it a couple times per week, so is an inconvenience for me and the bank employees if they have to open it every time.
Does anyone know of any place with self-service safe deposit boxes? I called around and the only place that seemed to have them is Wachovia, but they are phasing them out (due to Wells Fargo buyout) and are not issuing new self-service boxes.
A downtown location would be preferred, but it seems like my options are slim.
You might reconsider this type of box Self-Service Safe Deposit. Financial institutions may not be so willing to have self-service due to potential lawsuits.
I have seen that article before. That is exactly why most banks are moving away from that. My insurance company is okay with that setup though, so if one is available, I would still prefer the single key. I will most likely have to choose a dual-key setup though.
Greer State Bank in Taylors has fingerprint entry. No bank employee is required to enter. You simply put your hand on the piece of equipment to read you fingerprints, input your secret code and the door opens. It is very cool and efficient. They are much more private and safe than the normal one's. It is the future of safe deposit box systems.
