Proterra will select Greenville, SC for a new manufacturing plant located at CU-ICAR to assemble and manufacturer electric buses. The company will invest no less than $68 million for the new plant and create 1,300 jobs within five years: http://www.greenvillecounty.org/Coun...ement%20v2.pdf

How I know it's Proterra:
-My reliable sources
-1,300 jobs over five years is exactly what the bus rapid transit application said for job creation from company
-It will be located in the City of Greenville
-This Inducement Agreement for the company is coming out right around the same time Proterra is scheduled to announce their new plant
-It will be located in an industrial park (ICAR)

This is great. I have to believe that they will work closely with GreenLink to develop our BRT system and make it a model for other metros to copy.

This is good; thank you g-man430 for the info. I am happy to see CU-ICAR finally bringing the companies here.

So, we will wait a little longer. But, the fact that Proterra brass were at CU-ICAR to hear the Secretary's speech says a lot, to me.

Wonder why the only working prototype bus is running in Columbia though??

It’s an impressive model. In a few years, ICAR has attracted respected faculty, created 500 jobs with an average salary of $70,000, built a gleaming campus and attracted an estimated $215 million in public and private investment. An international association of research parks last month recognized ICAR as a top emerging research center.
